Units in the Reading Area

There are 6 units which meet regularly around the Reading area, which covers the three Scout districts of East Reading, Reading Central and Pang Valley Each unit runs their own weekly programme, but they also join in on weekend camps and other events.

Eagles ESU (Reading Central)

The Eagles ESU meet at various locations around Reading (although they are based near Palmer Park), so its best to contact the leaders to find out what they're upto (or check out the dates down the left of the page). Unit Leader: Phil Mitchell Details

Penguins ESU (Reading Central)

The Penguins ESU meet in two locations depending on the week of the month. For the first two Thursdays they meet at the 89th Reading Scout Hut on Jefferson Close in Emmer Green. For the remaining Wednesdays they meet at the 43rd Reading Scout Hut on Callington Road in Whitley. Meetings run from 19.30 to 21.30. Unit Leader: Antonia Corringham Details

1st YMCA ESU (Reading Central)

The 1st Reading (YMCA) ESU is a Sea Explorer Unit attached to the Sea Scout Group. They meet at the 1st YMCA Scout Hut on Friday evenings. Unit Leader: David King Details

Phoenix ESU (Pang Valley)

The Phoenix ESU meet in the hall of the United Reform Church on Armour Road on Mondays. Unit Leader: Ronnie Haylock Details

Excalibur ESU (Pang Valley)

The Excalibur ESU meet on Wednesdays in the Venture Den at the 79th Scout Hut on Armour Hill (off Kentwood Hill), Tilehurst. Their meeting times are 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Unit Leader: Nick Cooney Details

Burgfield ESU (Pang Valley)
