What are Explorer Scouts?

Explorer Scouts are a part of the Scout Association of the United Kingdom. We are open to all young people between the ages of 14 and 18, and take part in numerous adventurous activities and events. Our aim is to help the young people in Reading achieve their full potential by offering them opportunities which cannot be found anywhere else. |
What do Explorer Scouts do?

In the past two years we have been rock climbing, hill-walking, kayaking, rafting, skiing,
mountain biking, shooting, camping, gliding, and much more. We have visited many areas of the UK, including Scotland, the Lake District, and North Wales. We have also attended international expeditions to places like Slovenia. In the next two years, we have an expedition to Spain this summer, and the World Jamboree, where we expect tens of thousands of Scouts from all around the world to attend. We also plan on doing a lot of the same activities which have proven popular with the young people we have in Explorer Scouts. |
How do I get involved?

If you want to be an Explorer Scout, then simply turn up to your nearest unit. There are 6 units meeting across the Reading area at the moment, and any one of them will be happy for you to join in. If you live outside of the Reading area, then there are plenty of units across the County of Berkshire, and details can be found at the Berkshire County Scouts Website. |
